    A lot of ill educated people get this tattooed, they see it as some 'Aussie Pride' thing.

    Nothing wrong with that. In Brazil, the southern star is always represented like that - just check our coat of arms, or Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's crest - not like the australian flag does.
